All signs point to
Don acquired quite a bit of money, and enemies, leading up to his disappearance.
It has been 11 days since I last posted an update.
But trust me— there are updates.
I want to focus on some background first.
Netflix really left out just how much of a wild cannon Lewis was. Their focus was the hunt, but I have the background too.
Lewis had a lot of enemies. The guy did a lot of things that only make sense if you’re a millionaire, crazy or maybe mentally inflicted.
Check on the first one, no comment on the rest.
He was tangled up with the Costa Rican mob. Well, Lewis and Baskin. I have the legal documents with their names all over it. That’s not much of a lead, however. Those guys fled the country years ago and are nowhere to be found.
Sounds familiar.
The guy also had an affinity for underage women in Costa Rica. Mind you, the age of consent down there is 15, so take that information as you will. Legal or not, parents generally aren’t happy to see their teenage daughter(s) hanging around a middle aged man.
Lastly, and the most popular theory, Lewis had a wife who he was very terribly hiding his extramarital activities from who owns literal tigers with him. In one of Baskin’s diary entries, she details how Don came home with a venereal disease from one of his Costa Rican excursions. She also got her hands on a message from one of his Central American girlfriends who had enough of the lies.
Anyway— what I’m trying to say is…
He wasn’t the most popular eccentric millionaire.
If he’s hiding, he has to be hiding from just about everyone he’s ever crossed paths with.
Next post I’m going to share about my hunt for Don’s last known address. Stay tuned.
